There's nothing that lets your spirit know that spring has sprung quite like wandering through a bluebell forest, so I urge you to make this an annual tradition, as you might a Boxing Day walk, and take your camera, try to make time on a week day, if you possibly can, so you don't have to share this experience with the world. It's one of the great joys of spring to wander, perambulate, potter and pirouette through a shallow sea of blue.
Living in Hampshire, we're incredibly lucky. Micheldever Woods is one of the finest Beech forests in the country and always guarantees a great display. From mid-April to early May the flowers start to bloom beneath the canopy. If you take a blanket and a thermos then you can even picnic amongst their splendour, like a proper Nana.
